The History of Dixie Speaker

Posted by Kris Kirchler on

Dixie Speaker started out in 1971 as a repair service for drive-in movie theatres across Alabama and the southeast. For those who don't know, early drive-ins had speakers that hung onto the window of your car. Those speakers took a beating from the weather and customers abusing or driving off with them still attached to the car. This provided the opportunity for the beginnings of something very cool.

Soon, the home stereo market exploded and new residential customers started seeking out our services. The 1970s were exciting times for home stereo owners with manufacturers investing in research to develop some of the best sounding speakers anyone had heard. Some of those models still sound great today. Dixie Speaker has restored thousands of those great speakers and many newer brands.

In the 1980s, Dixie Speaker saw incredible growth in the church, commercial and touring markets. We built relationships with other repair shops, churches, schools, bands, DJs and major touring companies. Those relationships have stood the test of time and we still service many of those clients today.

In the 1990s and 2000s we participated in several training programs offered by manufacturers like JBL and Electro Voice and we constantly educate our technicians on the latest technologies. By attending events sponsored by NAMM, InfoComm and others, we stay up to date on speaker and sound related issues.

We have surely evolved with the times and technology by constantly updating our website and social media platforms. Today you can get detailed repair information and purchase a wide variety of speakers and sound related items from our website. You can also ship your repair items to us and we will gladly take care of them and ship them back to your doorstep.

As one of the oldest speaker service centers in North America, Dixie Speaker has the experience and knowledge to provide the best service possible in our industry. Whether it is repairing your home stereo speakers, your car sub, your church sound system, or a huge touring sound system, we are ready to take care of your repair needs. We know that customer service is the one thing that differentiates us from everyone else and we give 100% to each and every one of our customers.

Thanks for all of the support through the years! Looking forward to many more.
